Crown Legacy FC Signs Winger Kimarni Smith from San Antonio FC


25 year-old native of Nottingham, England makes move to MLS Next Pro

Charlotte, NC (Monday, August 7, 2023) - Crown Legacy FC today announced the club has signed winger Kimarni Smith from San Antonio FC.

“We are pleased to welcome Kimarni Smith to Crown Legacy FC and look forward to him integrating into the squad this week,” said Technical Director Bobby Belair. “Kimarni adds versatility and depth to the roster at the winger position, and brings a skill set that fits the style of football we like to play. We’re delighted to strengthen the roster ahead of the the end of the season playoff run and we’re confident Kimarni can help elevate our squad as we fight for our first trophy.”

Smith moved to the United States in 2017 from Sheffield United U21s to play collegiately for Clemson University. Smith earned several recognitions in 2020 for the Tiger including being named MVP of the ACC Tournament. During his senior year at Clemson, Smith led the conference and nation in points (19) and goals (8).

Smith was the fourth pick by D.C. United in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft and made 20 MLS appearances for the Club across two seasons. Smith was loaned out to the club’s USL Affiliate Loudoun United where he featured 29 times and scored three goals.

Kimarni was signed to San Antonio FC in the USL Championship ahead of the 2023 season and played in 10 league matches this year. The forward also appeared in the U.S. Open Cup against MLS side Nashville S.C.
