Charlotte, NC (Friday, July 7, 2023) – Crown Legacy FC was voted MLS NEXT Pro’s Team of the Month for June, earning the award for the second time in its inaugural season.

CLFC was nearly perfect last month, going 3-1-1 and winning its one shootout against New York Red Bulls II.

“We are honored to be recognized as the Team of the Month for a second time this season,” said Technical Director Bobby Belair. “This award is a testament to the players and coaching staff’s hard work and their dedication to improving each day. We wanted to create a winning mentality in our first season for Crown Legacy FC, and a culture that will help to produce young talents for the Club. We have a long way to go to achieve our goals, but we are grateful for this honor and excited to build off the progress we’ve made in the first half of our inaugural season.”

After suffering only its second loss of the season to begin the month, Crown Legacy FC responded with a 2-0 win over Philadelphia Union II just three days later. CLFC finished off the month with a draw, extending its Eastern Conference lead to six points. Crown Legacy FC has earned 38 points this season primarily due to it’s home dominance, going undefeated in the Queen City. The Club also holds the best road record in the East, posting a 6-2-0 record when traveling.

This is the third monthly award Crown Legacy FC has received and the second time it has earned Team of the Month honors, the first coming in May. Forward Iuri Tavares was also recognized as Player of the Month for May with Head Coach Jose Tavares being named the MLS NEXT Pro Midseason Coach of the Year in the Club’s inaugural campaign.

Crown Legacy FC returns to Mecklenburg County Sportsplex Sunday, July 9 at 5:00 p.m. ET to take on Atlanta United 2 as part of Stars, Stripes and Soccer.
