Crown Legacy FC to Open Inaugural MLS NEXT Pro Season against Huntsville City FC

CLFC will host the Club’s inaugural match on Sunday, March 26 at 3:00 p.m.

Charlotte, NC (Monday, February 27, 2022)- Crown Legacy FC today announced its inaugural match will be on Sunday, March 26 at 3:00 p.m. against Huntsville City FC at the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex in Matthews.

“We are pleased to announce Crown Legacy FC’s inaugural match and kick off the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro season,” said Crown Legacy FC Team President Darrius Barnes. “This team will be an exciting squad with incredible young talent who fans can watch develop week after week at the Sportsplex. We are thrilled to showcase to fans what we are building and to become part of the legacy.”

CLFC’s home opener against Huntsville City FC will kick off a 28-match schedule that will be released soon. Select Crown Legacy FC matches will be streamed live on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV apart of the monumental partnership between Apple and Major League Soccer.

All Crown Legacy FC home matches will be played at the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex in Matthews which is anchored by a 5,000-capacity stadium.

Led by Head Coach Jose Tavares, Crown Legacy FC will feature a mix of young Homegrown, international and domestic talent to compete for the MLS NEXT Pro Cup this season. The Club has already announced many high-potential players that will be playing at the Sportsplex this season, including Serbian International Nikola Petković, Cape Verde International Iuri Tavares, Brazilian Youth International João Pedro and more to be announced soon.

Huntsville City FC, Nashville SC’s MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, will also be playing its first professional match on March 26.
