Charlotte FC kicks off nationwide search for Chief Fan Officer
The position is the first of its kind for an MLS franchise and will serve as a liaison with Supporters’ Groups, playing an integral role in developing Charlotte FC’s fan culture and experience
About Charlotte FC
Charlotte FC is Major League Soccer’s 30th club and will begin play in 2022 at Bank of America Stadium, currently undergoing a $50 million project that includes significant enhancements to the Lowe’s East Gate, an upgraded main concourse and supporter’s bar, soccer-specific locker rooms, a central player tunnel and a new premium club space with field-level seating. Team owner David Tepper was awarded the expansion club on December 17th, 2019. Charlotte FC is part of Tepper Sports & Entertainment, which also includes the Carolina Panthers and Bank of America Stadium.
Position Summary
The Chief Fan Officer is a first-of-its-kind role for an MLS club and will be responsible for creating a direct relationship with fans to ensure they are supported and heard. The Supporters’ Groups are the heartbeat of an MLS club and the ideal candidate will strive to build a lasting relationship between fans and Charlotte FC. The Chief Fan Officer will play an integral role in helping build our brand and following with our fan base from the team’s early stages, to Charlotte FC First Kick in ‘22 and beyond!
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as liaison for Charlotte FC Supporters’ Council and all fans within the Carolinas and beyond
Drive awareness, viewership and the cultural conversation around the inaugural season
Be the voice of the fans; facilitate and strengthen the relationship between fans and the front office through regular meetings with club executives
Contribute to creative development and multiplatform fan marketing which elevates brand perception, cultural connection and fan engagement
Promote and attend special events and functions; promote and report on corporate milestones and activities such as club goals and projects; new products or services; community service activities.
Monitor and track fan sentiment of CLTFC and assist analytics and marketing teams with surveying
Travel to 2021 MLS matches to gain intel and report insights
Travel to 2022 CLTFC away matches with supporters per MLS guidelines
Additional duties may be assigned that are not listed above but are included in the scope of this role
Minimum Qualifications
Must be willing to travel
Must be able to work in within a team atmosphere, in non-traditional settings, and work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
Must pass pre-employment screenings
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual or multi-lingual skills
Experience working in the soccer, sports, and/or entertainment industry
Knowledge of Major League Soccer and their supporters’ groups a plus

Ability to work independently and in a group, and handle several tasks simultaneously
Applications will be accepted from now until 11:59 p.m. ET on July 30, 2021. From there, the candidate pool will be narrowed and selected applicants will participate in a virtual interview and multimedia submission. Subsequently, the final round will feature in-person interviews with key stakeholders in Charlotte. The summerlong search will culminate in September with an introductory press conference with the Chief Fan Officer, Ally and Club officials.
