Back in the Fortress | Ingredients of the Match

IOTM Miami H

Charlotte FC will look to make a triumphant return home by winning their 4th straight home match against Inter Miami.

Here are the three ingredients of the match to keep an eye on against Miami.

Back in the Fortress

Charlotte FC has been playing on the road for the past month and are finally making their return to Bank of America Stadium. The Club has won three straight matches at home, quickly becoming a fortress for the team.

“We are super excited to be at home. The confidence and the support that we have here at home, of course, we don’t have away, said head coach Miguel Ramírez. “And playing in front of our people and feel the support and love from our people, is amazing for us.

“And it also scares the opponent. Now they know, opponents know how difficult it is to beat us here and how powerful the atmosphere and energy is in this stadium.”

The team will need to harness that energy that the fans provide to start out on the front foot to try and score early as they’ve done in their past three wins in Charlotte.

First Goal

The first goal has been indicative of how matches have gone for CLTFC this season. The Crown have won every match in which they’ve scored first but on the other hand, lost all they’ve conceded first in.

Scoring that first goal has historically led to victory for Charlotte, so pushing numbers forward and combining quickly early in the match will be critical in getting an early lead and taking the reigns over the match.

Down But Not Out

It’s no secret that Inter Miami will have some key absences against Charlotte FC. Through injuries and red card suspensions, they’ll miss players like starting center back Damion Lowe and forward Edison Azcona.

Their leading goal scorer, striker Leonardo Campana, is also questionable for the day. However, the match still won’t be a walk in the park for CLTFC because with absences also comes a degree of unpredictability that complicates preparation.

“With having so many absences, we don’t know what elements we are going to find in specific positions,” said Ramírez. “Makes it difficult to predict what they are going to do.”

Miami will still have their industrious midfield core of Jean Mota and 2021 Miami MVP Gregore patrolling the center of the pitch. And forwards Ariel Lassiter and new signing Indiana Vasseliv provide solid attacking options if needed. Assuming Miami will be an easy match would be a grave mistake.
