Charlotte FC Announces Updates to Academy Structure Ahead of 2023-24 MLS NEXT Season

CLTFC Academy introduces new coaching hires and announces the addition of residency houses

Charlotte, NC (Friday, September 15, 2023) – Charlotte FC today announced the Club’s Academy technical staff assignments and further important updates for the 2023-24 MLS NEXT Season.

Led by Executive Director of Academy Bryan Scales, Charlotte FC provides a professional environment for the top talent within the Carolinas and beyond to develop. The CLTFC Academy has six age groups starting with a U-12 Discovery Program and running through the U-20 side.

12-year MLS veteran Dominic Oduro will continue as the U-20 Head Coach, with Jason Osborne returning as the U-17 Head Coach. Torrey Stricklin will step in as the U-15 Head Coach after joining the Club last year. Patrick Daka will return as the U-14 Head Coach and Director of Pre-formation.

The Discovery Program will have two age groups, U-12 and U-13, which will be headed up by Marco Diaz and Jordan Phillips, respectively. Academy Goalkeeping Director Michal Gorsczcaryk will oversee the U-20 and U-17 age groups, while Evan Harvey will lead the U-15, U-14 and Discovery Program goalkeepers.

The remainder of the CLTFC Academy technical staff features one addition, Tom Marcason joins the Club as Head of Academy Operations. Jamie Blair will continue to oversee the Academy Performance Department, Alex Nucerino and Scott Morrison will return to run the Academy Medical Department and Katie Best will continue as Academy Dietician.

Additionally, the Charlotte FC Academy has acquired two residency houses that will allow players to live and train together under the supervision of staff members.
