Charlotte FC today announced the additions of Charles William and Daniel Wicker to the Clubā€™s data analytics team. The duo has been part of the organization since prior to the start of the 2023 season and supports the Clubā€™s Head of Analytics & Technical Scouting Lisandro Isei and others throughout the scouting department.

William joins as the Clubā€™s Data Scientist and Wicker as Data Analyst.

William previously served as the Head of Data at 360 Scouting, a player scouting consultancy, where he was key in implementing player evaluation models and developing the company's data infrastructure.Ā

"We're delighted to welcome Charles as the Club's first Data Scientist. He comes from an engineering background and has been involved in the soccer analytics field for almost a decade. He brings valuable technical expertise that will help the Club take advantage of the wealth of data we now have access to,ā€ said Head of Analytics & Technical Scouting Lisandro Isei. ā€œCharles will be leading the development of software and data infrastructure as well as developing models for player analysis and evaluation in close collaboration with the scouting department and coaching staff. These tasks will be instrumental in delivering evidence-based insights to aid decision making throughout the club for years to come."

Wicker, a Charlotte native, and graduate of Providence Day School, served in numerous biomedical research roles prior to joining Charlotte FC.

ā€œWe're also excited to bring on board Daniel in a formal capacity after he impressed us while working on a few projects last summer,ā€ Isei added. ā€œDaniel is a natural when it comes to communicating analytical concepts and findings to colleagues, as well as always being on top of the latest methods and trends in soccer analytics and the sports industry. The Club is committed to identifying and developing local talent across all roles within the organization, so this certainly represents a key hire for us."
