Emmy Award-winning sideline reporter with over a decade of MLS experience joins CLTFC’s broadcast team

CHARLOTTE, NC (Monday, January 24, 2022) – Charlotte FC today announced Katie Witham has joined the Club’s local broadcast team as sideline reporter for English-language matches on WSOC-TV and TV64.

Witham, who most recently served as the sideline reporter and host of FS1’s Major League Soccer coverage, joins play-by-play announcer Eric Krakauer and color analyst Lloyd Sam to round out the local broadcast team for the Club’s inaugural season.

Witham has been on the broadcast team of two MLS Cups, 2018 and 2020, and was part of the first-ever all-female national broadcast of a U.S. men’s pro soccer match.

“I am thrilled to join Charlotte FC as part of their inaugural season broadcast team. To be a part of this Club’s history and help showcase their first season in Major League soccer is truly an honor,” said Witham. “Not many people get the opportunity to take a front row seat during the team’s first-ever season and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to help Eric Krakauer and Lloyd Sam bring that to life each week on the telecasts.”

Witham, a graduate of Capital University where she was a co-captain on the women’s soccer team, began her career in MLS as a sideline reporter for the Columbus Crew in 2005. In addition to her work in Columbus, Witham spent time as a sideline reporter for Fox Soccer Channel, ESPN and league-owned channels.

She also covered men’s and women’s ACC soccer for Fox Sports South.

Outside of soccer, Witham is no stranger to Charlotte as she hosted the ACC Network’s ACC Blitz and Halftime Report from 2015 to 2018. She’s also been a correspondent, studio reporter and sideline reporter for the Big Ten Network since 2008.

Witham began her career as a radio DJ at WWCD in Columbus.

“We’re very excited to add one of the most well-respected sideline reporters throughout the entire country to our local broadcast team. Katie’s reporting experience at both the club and national level in Major League Soccer will be an invaluable asset to our broadcasts,” said Club President Nick Kelly. “With this addition we wrap up our television broadcast talent for the 2022 season and our fans will benefit from the world-class team we have assembled both in English and Spanish.”
