Bank of America Stadium welcomes the prestigious international competition headlined by Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and the United States
Charlotte, NC (Monday, December 4, 2023) ā CONMEBOL, the governing body of soccer in South America, today announced Charlotte, North Carolina and Bank of America Stadium as a host city and venue for CONMEBOL Copa America 2024.
Uptown Charlotte will be the site for a Semifinal match on July 10 as well as the Third Place Playoff on July 13. Copa America is South Americaās continental championship featuring menās international powerhouses like Argentina, Brazil and Colombia. Teams that have won 10 FIFA World Cupā¢ titles and the biggest stars of world football will take the field for 32 matches in this edition of the tournament in June and July 2024. The highly popular event is expected to draw approximately 150,000 people to Uptown Charlotte over the course of the week.
Three soccer matches held at Bank of America Stadium in 2023 drew over 60,000 fans to Uptown Charlotte, including the Oct. 21 match up against Inter Miami and international superstar Lionel Messi in which Charlotte FC earned its first playoff berth in the Clubās second season. Two additional matches this year attracted more than 40,000 attendees. Soccer-related events held at Bank of America Stadium have drawn visitors from all 50 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and 31 countries.

The CONMEBOL Copa America 2024ā¢ļø will be played in the United States and includes 10 CONMEBOL teams and 6 Concacaf guest teams. In this edition, this traditional tournament will be organized by both confederations.
The 6 Concacaf teams qualify through the Concacaf Nations League 2023/24. The teams from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean that have already qualified are the United States, Jamaica, Mexico, and Panama. The other two Concacaf participants will be confirmed after a Play-In between Canada vs Trinidad and Tobago and Costa Rica vs Honduras. This Play-In will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
In the 48th edition of one of the most important competitions of the continent, this will be the second time in the tournament's history that it will host 16 teams - having hosted the same number of teams in its 2016 edition, also held in the United States.
The tournament comes to Charlotte for the first time and marks the second consecutive year one of FIFAās regional international competitions will visit Bank of America Stadium following the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup.
The draw from CONMEBOL Copa America 2024 will be held on Thursday, December 7 in Miami, Florida. One team from each pot will be drawn into a group of four with the top two teams in each group advancing to the knockout stages.
