Charlotte FC’s four-match unbeaten streak came to an end Saturday night as The Crown fell 2-1 to Chicago Fire FC.
Pep Biel, who started this game on the right wing, netted the game’s first goal in the 18th minute.
It was a lovely give-and-go sequence by Biel and striker Idan Toklomati. Biel initially dished it to Toklomati, who then served it right back for the MLS All-Star to smack into the top corner.
The lead was short-lived, however. Polish superstar Robert Lewandowski, making his home debut for Chicago, earned his first MLS goal in the 20th minute to draw the hosts level.
Lewandowski scored again in the 68th minute to put Chicago in front for good.
Up next for The Crown is a trio of Leagues Cup fixtures. Charlotte FC hosts Pumas Tuesday night at 8 pm EST at Bank of America Stadium in what will be their first of three matches against Liga MX sides.
