Charlotte FC earned a comprehensive 0-2 win over rival club Atlanta United Saturday night in Georgia.
The visitors scored first and truly never looked back.
A beautiful sequence gave Charlotte the lead in the 22nd minute. Allan Saint-Maximin delivered an audacious pass to Pep Biel on the opposite side of the penalty box. Biel then delivered the ball to striker Idan Toklomati, who buried his effort in the back of the net.
It’s the second year in a row that Toklomati scored away at Atlanta.
Charlotte quickly doubled its lead into the second half. Liel Abada did expertly to line up a shot before banging in a sensational strike. It marked the eighth goal contribution for Abada since the team returned from the World Cup break.
Additionally, Charlotte’s win marked their fourth straight at Atlanta.
Charlotte FC returns to Bank of America Stadium next Saturday to host Houston Dynamo. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm ET.
