Charlotte FC’s newest Designated Player, Allan Saint-Maximin, has hit the ground running since arriving at the Club. The French forward tallied his first two assists for The Crown in the 2-0 victory at Atlanta United last Saturday, earning MLS Team of the Matchweek honors in just his fourth regular season appearance. Maxi’s lightning quick pace and dazzling dribbling skills have been on full display already and the winger is ready to show it off back at home this weekend, so be there to cheer on The Crown and catch his electric style of play.
A Look at the Dynamo
Saturday’s matchup against the Dynamo marks the fourth meeting in series history and the first since July 2024. The Crown owns a narrow edge over the Texas team in the all-time series, having won each of the first two contests by a 2-1 scoreline, while falling in the latest meeting, 1-0.
The Dynamo have shot up the Western Conference standings, now sitting in second place on 39 points after going 8W-2L-3D since the beginning of May. While The Crown will not need to focus on midfielder Jack McGlynn, who tallied two goals and six assists through 18 matches, due to his transfer across the pond, forward Guilherme will certainly be on to keep an eye on. The Brazilian forward has led the charge for the Dynamo this year, challenging for this year’s Golden Boot with 12 goals on the year to go along with seven assists. If Charlotte can keep him contained, now more straightforward with the lack of McGlynn’s service; three points are within reach.
Spanish Star
It’s difficult not to mention Charlotte FC’s Spanish star, Pep Biel, when talking about The Crown’s good form, having notched a goal contribution in eight of his last nine league contests. The attacking midfielder tallied his ninth assist of the season, officially bringing his season goal contribution tally to 20 (11G+9A), becoming the third player this season to do so along with Evander (24 G+A) and Leo Messi (28 G+A). He is chasing Karol Swiderski’s all-time goal contribution record in Club history (48), with Biel sitting just one shy of the Polish forward heading into Saturday’s matchup with the Dynamo.
