Charlotte, N.C. (Tuesday, August 4, 2026) – Charlotte FC announced today the Club has signed forward Nathan Richmond on a short-term agreement from the Club’s MLS NEXT Pro team Crown Legacy FC. The forward will be available for tonight’s match against Pumas UNAM at Bank of America Stadium.
Richmond earned his first call up to the First Team in the midst of a standout season with the Club’s MLS NEXT Pro side. The winger has tallied seven goals and eight assists through 19 matches, tying him for first in assists across MLS NEXT Pro, as CLFC sits atop the Eastern Conference standings.
The Atlanta, Ga. Native was selected by Charlotte FC in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft before returning to college for his junior and senior seasons at Clemson University. Richmond appeared in 50 matches, totaling 13 goals and 12 assists as well as an NCAA National Championship and ACC Tournament Championship title. Prior to his time with the Tigers, Richmond played at IMG Academy and Atlanta United’s Academy and was ranked the No. 1 midfielder in Georgia by TopDrawerSoccer.
Per MLS rules, the short-term agreements allow clubs to sign players on loan from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate for MLS, U.S. Open Cup, Concacaf Champions League, Leagues Cup, Canadian Championship, and exhibition matches.
