As Idan Toklomati’s header dribbled across the goal line out of Andre Blake’s reach, he surpassed Karol Świderski and Pep Biel to take sole ownership of the Charlotte FC record for most goals in an MLS season.

Toklomati’s goal in Charlotte FC’s 2-2 draw against Philadelphia Union was his 13th of the MLS campaign, breaking the record of 12.

“His all-round performances are getting better and better,” Head Coach Dean Smith said. “We've always known how competitive he is, but he's showing that skill on the ball as well.”

Toklomati has had a successful run with Charlotte FC since signing with the Club on September 18, 2024, after starting his time in Charlotte with Crown Legacy FC.

In his first full season with The Crown, he scored a Club-leading 11 goals. He had Charlotte FC’s second-ever hat trick in a 3-0 win against Inter Miami CF on September 13, 2025. The win gave The Crown their ninth consecutive win, tying the record for most consecutive wins by an MLS club in the post-shootout era.

Toklomati has been on a good run of form in the last ten matches, scoring eight goals and recording two assists to bring himself to the forefront of the goalscoring crown for Charlotte FC this season. He has scored in five of the last six matches, including scoring in three consecutive matches for the first time in his Charlotte FC career.

“I think when he came back from international duty, his work rate's gone through the roof,” Ashley Westwood said. “He looks hungry.  He's running round, he dispossessed the player on Wednesday night (against the Columbus Crew) and got his goal, and that's what I said to him. I said, ‘Look, you keep working hard, you get the rewards,’ and his goal today was outstanding.”

That surge in form has translated directly into Toklomati’s performances on the pitch. His ability to win back possession by pressing defenders and capitalizing on chances has become a hallmark of his game.

With his recent run of form, Toklomati is again showcasing why Smith is letting the 22-year-old striker head his 4-3-3 formation. In the Club’s five-year history, Toklomati now has the most successful goal-scoring season and is continuing to transform into one of MLS’ most dangerous forwards.

“I think for me it's the way he's been working hard and running around and closing people down,” Westwood said. “He looks a top striker now.”
