Charlotte FC’s Academy has received its first national team camp call-ups for four of its players to potentially represent the United States and Liberia at the youth levels. It’s a historic occasion in the Academy’s history with players from both the U-15 and U-17 teams being invited.
"National Team representation is a key barometer for player development, and our ambition is to continue to recruit and develop players who are capable of playing at that level,” said Academy Manager Dan Lock.
Youth national team camps are an opportunity for international soccer federations to bring in large pools of talented young players to further assess. Eventually through information gathered at such camps, the large pools of players are then narrowed down to the final youth squads to represent their countries in international youth games and tournaments.
For players, it’s an unparalleled chance to impress their international soccer federation and earn a spot on the final youth squads with the ultimate goal of one day representing their nation at the senior level. The following are the CLTFC Academy players who were invited:
U-17 USMYNT Domestic Training Camp January 18th – 25th
Brian Romero
Hometown: Charlotte, NC
Year: 2006
Position: Central Midfielder/Attacking Midfielder
Scored 2 goals in 3 games and played a prominent role during the GA Cup qualifiers in LA in December where he got identified by the US Soccer Scouts.
U-15 USMYNT Domestic Training Camp January 7th – 14th
Nifmasha Berchimas
Hometown: Highpoint, NC
Year: 2008
Position: Winger/Center Forward
Scored 2 goals in 3 games during the GA Cup qualifiers in LA in December where he got identified by the US Soccer Scouts.
Adrien Renteria
Hometown: Charlotte, NC
Year: 2007
Position: Central Midfielder/Winger
Scored 1 goal and played a prominent role during the GA Cup qualifiers in LA in December where he got identified by the US Soccer Scouts.
U-17 Liberian National Team Camp
Aryeh Miller
Hometown: Greensboro, NC
Year: 2006
Position: Central Midfielder
Was called into and attended the Liberian U17 National Team Camp in December prior to Christmas.
