Charlotte FC's U-15 and U-17 Academy teams have just wrapped up their group stage matches in the Generation adidas Cup. The U-17s have advanced to the knockout stages while the U-15s ended up only one point off from advancing.

“Both the 15’s and 17’s have played very well in this tournament. The 17’s have been especially strong to win their group and move on to the Round of 16. In our first GA Cup Finals, the kids and the staff should be really proud. More games to go," Academy Director Bryan Scales praises the Academy's group stage effort.

U-17 Group Results

The U-17s were placed in a group with the Seattle Sounders, Austin FC, and Mexican side Santos Laguna. They finished first in their group, gaining an advantage for the first round of the knockout stage as they will play a runner-up of another group.

U-15 Group Results

The U-15s were placed in a group with CF Montreal, New England Revolution, and the Mexican giants Club América. They finished 3rd in their group with having a win, draw, and loss each.

Up Next

For the U-17s they will go on to the knockout stages of the tournament and play against New York City FC in the Round of 16 on April 13th at 5:00 pm ET.

The U-15s aren't done playing just yet. They will play an additional three showcase matches against River Plate, New York City FC, and FC Cincinnati.

Generation adidas Cup

The GA Cup is an elite youth competition run by Major League Soccer and this year’s edition is the biggest ever. It has 80 professional academies from 10 countries across four continents with U-15 and U-17 teams playing at the Toyota Soccer Center at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas from April 9-17.
