As Charlotte FC enjoys its first year of MLS competition, the club is excited to announce the launch of its Unified Team to compete against other MLS clubs in 2022. MLS WORKS (Major League Soccer's Social Responsibility platform) ESPN and Special Olympics have teamed up to unite people with and without intellectual disabilities through the Unified Sports soccer exchange program. This program provides opportunities for Unified soccer teams to participate in a unique and exciting MLS inclusive experience.

Bringing together Special Olympics athletes and Unified partners, or people without intellectual disabilities, the Unified soccer team will represent their home MLS Club as they play one home match and one away match during the 2022 season.

Special Olympics North Carolina and the Charlotte Football Club will hold open tryouts for people with and without intellectual disabilities to be a part of the Charlotte Football Club Unified Team! Players ages 16-29 are eligible to try out for the team.
