MLS WORKS (Major League Soccer's Social Responsibility platform), ESPN, and Special Olympics have teamed up to unite people with and without intellectual disabilities through the Special Olympics Unified Sports® Soccer Exchange Program. This program provides opportunities for Unified soccer teams to participate in a unique and exciting MLS inclusive experience. The Charlotte FC Unified Team will compete against other MLS Unified Teams.

The Charlotte FC Unified Team brings together Special Olympics North Carolina athletes and Unified partners, players without intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics North Carolina and the Charlotte Football Club will hold open tryouts for people with (athletes) and without (partners) intellectual disabilities to be a part of the Charlotte Football Club Unified Team! Players ages 16-29 are eligible to try out for the team but preference will be given to players ages 25 or younger.
