When is Election Day in North Carolina?

The 2022 General Election is scheduled for November 8, 2022. Early voting in NC is Oct. 20-Nov. 5. The voting registration deadline is Oct. 14.

Can I still register to vote?

You have time to register for the general election in November.

There is no fee for voter registration services.

Voter registration applications submitted fewer than 25 days before an election will not be processed until after the election. You may still register to vote in person using same-day registration in your county during the early voting period.

Where is my polling place?

Can I vote by absentee ballot?

Any North Carolina registered voter qualified to vote in an election may request and receive a mail-in absentee ballot for any election in which absentee voting is allowed.

No special circumstance or reason is needed to receive and vote a mail-in absentee ballot.

For the November 2022 general election, completed State Absentee Ballot Request Forms may be emailed, faxed or hand-delivered to the voter's county board of elections by one of the following:

  • the voter;
  • the voter's near relative or verifiable legal guardian; or
  • a member of a multipartisan assistance team (MAT).

Can I vote early?

North Carolina allows any registered voter to cast their ballot before Election Day. Unlike on Election Day where one has to vote at their specific precinct, voters can do early voting at any of the specified early voting locations within the county.
